This lesson explores what the concept of development is. the students then explore what factors affect development worldwide by annotating the four categories with ideas, Social, environmental, political and economic. We then look at GNI and HDI as measurements of development and consider both their strengths and weaknesses. We then look at global patterns of HDI, and quality of life. I used these two lessons for my early entry class who had to work through the module very quickly. I would print off some off the slides in order to save time

The resources are suitable for whole class teaching to promote thinking skills and discussion. An assembly script designed for a class of 30 , based on the story The Lorax with a message of caring for our world.

I use this to enable the student's to understand the vocabulary used in the Our Rocky World scheme of work. The students learn the key words and definitions as a homework and are then tested in class.

A simple matching activity with important keywords from the OCR ELC Geography specification. Together with an answer sheet for easy reference, this activity could prove helpful as a starter or homework activity.

Some great ideas for lessons and YouTube links for making children thin k about the world that they live in and the impact they have on it. Could be used for a whole school activity.
