GCSE Spanish - Role play preparation

(1)
This is a lesson I have created for my GCSE students to get familiar with the role play task. To begin with, we look at question words and their translation into English. Then, I explain to them the difference between qué and cuál, which is often confunsing for them. Afterwards, students attempt 5 different role plays on a mix of different topics. This lesson includes a starter, plenary and homework task. The file is a PPT so it is completely editable. All answers and model answers embedded in PPT.

FRENCH VERSION COMING SOON! This clear and thorough workbook will prepare AQA Spanish students for the role play in their GCSE speaking exam. Students often perform badly in the role play due to poor exam strategy and a lack of familiarity with the success criteria. This workbook aims to tackle common errors and misconceptions and provide opportunities to overlearn useful techniques to ensure success on this question. It includes thirty role plays based on past paper questions along with model answers, a self-assessment checklist, and helpful tips and reminders on each page. It begins with a student-friendly breakdown of what is required in this part of the exam, and will allow students to prepare independently and understand how to succeed. It also has two helpful exam mark sheets at the back for informal classroom practice or mock exam feedback.

Year 6 Shrek Production/Show/Play/Musical

(1)
Myself and my Year 6 team put together a fantastic Year 6 production of Shrek and I thought others may be interested. We split the roles between our 45 children. We had some children double/triple up on one role e.g. we had 3 different Shreks, 3 Fionas, 3 Donkeys, 2 Lord Farquaads and a narrator, as well as many other cast members. I used the script from the original movie and adapted and cut out bits - like the dragon falling in love with the donkey. It took around 45minutes-1hour to perform. I hope this is useful for someone. I absolutely loved doing it and would definitely do it again in the future!

KS2 / KS3 Drama - The Grinch Play Script (Christmas Play)

(0)
A funny play loosely based on the Grinch by Dr. Seuss, and the well known movie. The story revolves around the town of Whoville, where all the Whos love Christmas. In fact they love Christmas so much it is all they talk about! However, a mysterious outcast lives to the North of the town; this outcast hates Christmas and anything to do with the festive time of year. This outcast is called the Grinch! The play follows the story of Cindy-Lou and her family as they open up to the Grinch, and try to show him what Christmas is all about. However, the Grinch has his own plans to ruin Christmas for the town, and steals all the presents on Christmas eve. He has a change of heart however when he hears the town enjoying Christmas even though he had stolen all of the presents. His heart grows and he quickly returns the gifts and takes part in all the festivities. There are song recommendations throughout the script, with a mixture of traditional Christmas songs and modern songs. There are 28 speaking parts, with additional non-speaking roles too for up to 30 students. The play is around 40-50 minutes long. I hope you have fun with it, my class had a ball! If you are unsure whether it will suit your class, download a free preview and give it a go! ⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻ I also have some more Christmas play scripts in my store including: A Christmas Carol (A School Remix) Elf A Christmas Carol (A Traditional Version) The Santa Clause To save money you can buy all four play scripts in my Christmas Play Script Bundle (saving nearly 40%) - link below: Christmas Play Script Bundle ⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚⏚ For more great resources check out Creative Primary Literacy

Shackleton and the Endurance play script

(0)
This is a script for a class of about 28 children but could easily be adapted to a smaller class. It tells the story of Ernest Shackleton and the Endurance, from the recruitment of the crew to the end of the voyage. It was used for an end-of-year 6 assembly as a culmination of their learning. We added in readings of newspaper reports, diary entries and poems but could easily be done without. We used 2 narrators.

Role plays - Independent Resources

I have collated exam board role play sample assessment materials in the style of Edexcel to support my students in their independent preparation. The only exam board missing is Edexcel, as these are the SAMs we are using for PPE speakings. These are printed to then be cut as two A5 laminated sheets kept together with short treasury tags for easy organisation. Pupils can use these as examples to help them to practise how to prepare for their speaking exams. There are 26 Foundation tasks, and 18 Higher tier tasks.
