Notes - Shape & Space - 11.Similarity & Congruency

A few years ago I wrote a set of notes for pupils and put them on my website. The notes were supposed to be written in a “pupil-friendly” way, and different to notes students might find in textbooks or elsewhere on the internet. I have converted the notes to PowerPoint slides so you can download them, adapt them if needed, use them in revision lessons or perhaps give your students a set to take home with them to help them prepare for exams. The chances are there will be a few mistakes here and there, so if you spot any please email me & I will correct them. Hope they are of use!

Shape & Space Loop Cards

(0)
A great mental maths resource which is perfect for the beginning of the lesson. However what makes these loop cards different to other packs is that they are differentiated, meaning that all the children in the group/class can be challenged or participate in the activity. This pack of loop cards are differentiated three ways and are indicated by a traffic light. Red light - designed for the more able children in the class/group Yellow light - designed for the middle group in the class Green light - designed for the less able children in the class/group Once the class or group have completed the loop card activity once, why not time them to see if they can complete the 'loop' in a faster time. Each child could keep the same card or they can be rotated between groups. TOP TIP - After printing, why not laminate so that you have a resource which can be used over and over again? Included in this set are 32 loop cards which include questions about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, angles, area and perimeter. There are 4 loop cards on each A4 sheet, making them easy to keep and store.

Measure Shapes and Space card sort

I have been using this board and card sort set for confirming understanding and peer learning with Functional skills students for over 6 years now and it works really well I have also used this for fun GCSE revision, they took me a good while to create. What's in the set? An A3 Board for the cards Each board holds 12 matching pairs Ideally you would laminate the boards (3/4 needed) and the cards 84 in total (42 sets) Total cards 42 and 42 matching answers/descriptions to questions All brightly coloured with the backs, ready to print fold over and laminate, they are in a word format so you can edit them or change them as you wish, each back has a set number (use find and replace) to change the set number, so you can print off a few sets, saves them getting mixed up I usually do these for groups of two or three students to promote peer learning, split the cards up as you wish for different sessions, takes a while printing but worth the effort, great for encouraging team activities What's on the cards? 42 in total all around measure/shape with 42 responses/answers to match each card Naming shapes (most shapes) Area questions Perimeter questions Some volume questions Parts of circles Net diagrams This is a good resource to use as an activity or to confirm understanding at the end of a session, good fun, can be used with lots of ages depending on the programme they are working towards from Entry level 3 to Level 2 functional skills, primary or GCSE, great revision activity. . Thanks for taking the time to read about this, should you decide to use this resource please leave feedback, I would be happy to hear from you
