A range of visuals for CPD/PLD teaching and learning theories, strategies and ideas such as Rosenshine, retrieval practice, feedback, Bloom, modeling and others.
Rosenshine in a nutshell is a single sheet that was borne out of a need to reduce the whole thing to one sheet for an interview .
The Model of learning and teaching - borne out of more than two decades of Taekwon-Do teaching and coaching and even longer class room practice. I wanted to codify what I was doing in both worlds. It seems to chime closely with what’s happening now.
The Forgetting curve with repeated input goes back to my BSc Environmental Biology days. It shows why repeated stimulation of the neural pathways works. It also explains why mediocre boarding schools get food grades - they drum it in to the kids morning noon and night.
With the Ofsted focus on curriculum and the retention and recall of information - this resource provides some creative ideas on how to embed this into lessons. Templates are attached for ease and distribution to staff and ideas are supported with transferable instructions to share across subject areas.
These Design Technology lessons focus on 3D Printing, Bending and Shaping, Die Casting, Lathe/Milling Machine/CAD-CAM, Manufactured Boards, Power and Machine tools and Soft and Hardwoods. The lessons are suitable for KS3 and GCSE students.

This is a SOW that was written by me for the COSIM/LESP project. It attempts to help students overcome their misconceptions on the phenomena linked to particle theory. It recomends using the LESP computer programme, but any particle simulation programme will do, so long as students can place the particles where they want to....alternately drawing storyboards also works.
These handy flashcards provide an overview of key learning theory and how they can be used within the classroom. Theories included-
Behaviourism
Constructivism
Social-Learning Theory
Humanism
Montessori Approach

This powerpoint includes all content required to teach the Theories of Learning topic of the OCR A-Level PE course.
(It will work as a normal powerpoint document, but for best use, upload and open / use this document on Google Drive.)
This resource pack is comprised of:
1.) Observation & Learning Walk Performance Grid
2.) Marking and Feedback Performance Grid
For use alongside lesson observations, learning walks, and book monitoring, these succinct performance grids enable observers to gauge, categorise, and feedback on teaching and learning sessions using OFSTED guidance for effective teaching. The documents provide descriptors of 'outstanding', 'good', 'requires improvement' and 'inadequate' practice within appropriately considered teaching and learning focus areas, for example: Questioning, Positive Feedback, Use of Additional Adults, etc. Schools who still grade individual teachers have noted that these are helpful aids in arriving at an overall judgement.
Introduction
Various theories that explain how children learn have been formulated. Teacher and subject centred teaching methods were mostly used in ancient times. Today however, many educational research scholars have come up with more appropriate teaching methods. Researchers in Child Developmental are of the opinion that the aspects of growth and development are interrelated and thus a child’ physical development will affect his/her socio-emotional as well as cognitive development and hence his/her learning. Knowledge of theoretical principles in child development and instructional methods will help us understand the stages through which a child passes and what he/she is capable of learning or doing.

I write the schools teaching and learning newsletters every two weeks. These are NOT my own personal ideas I merely source them from various places (research articles, text books, twitter, educational blogs) to provide CPD to the staff at my school and share best practice. They include teaching and learning ideas, activities, current and topical pedagogy etc.
If this is something you are responsible for in your own school or you would like to improve your own knowledge with very short simple snippets of advice then why not download them and save yourself a bit research time.
In this download you will receive the first seven newsletters.
