A PowerPoint I have created and used over the last half term. A starter a day for my Y11 class. The topics I focused on are their misconceptions. **Solutions included**. Next half term, I will be giving them 21-40 problems, so check back for the upload. Display on the board, or print out the slide. Pupils quickly see them as a force of habit. Feedback welcome. Multiple choice quizzes to help recall knowledge through low stakes testing. Answers included. Powerpoint included for those who would like to edit any questions **updated 04.06** Two more multiple choice quizzes put on. Re uploaded 150517 edition due to wrong answer. Hope they are some use :)

Pythagoras questions asked with different knowledge needed. Including Surds, Circle theorems, Bearings, Area, Perimeter and Ratio

Used as a revision relay/post it challenge. Print out the slides and cut out the individual questions. Use blu-tac to stick these to a wall, pupils then come out, take a question, work through the answer in their book - they then give their final answer on the back of the sheet with their name. Replace the question and do it again. If a pupil answers a question another pupil has already done and gets a different answer, then that pupil must find the other pupil and they must work through it together to come to one solution. 4 linear starters for the GCSE higher tier. When I used these, I asked pupils to start on the grade they were currently working at - then attempt the next grade up. Algebra, shape, data, number

6 shapes - including circles, to work out the area and perimeter. Could be used a plenary or quick revision exercise.

A powerpoint with 101 puzzle number starters. The powerpoint does say click for a random slide, but due to TES restrictions, cannot load the file saved with VB so the random generator doesn't work.

Mixture of angle problems which require an understanding of ratio to solve. Practice division of ratio into parts and knowing one parts. Understanding of angle facts needed

A very simple but effective resource I have found. Print the pages out, I use different coloured paper for each sheet. Pupils must then cut out the fractions and place them in size order. Sheets become progressively more difficult - I have given pupils string before and they have to thread the sheets on in order - or given blu tac and stuck to the board. Feedback as always, appreciated.

A card sort with quadratics represented in four different ways. Quadratics expression Factorised quadratic Completing the Square Quadratic Graph with intersects. There is seven blank cards, pupils must fill in the missing expressions/graphs.

Used as a recap starter on Volume and Surface Area. Grade D-B.

Something I put together to see if pupils can understand when to use Pythagoras to solve a problem. Apart from the file name, the word 'pythagoras' is not mentioned on the slides. Also involves some surd questions.

2 starter activities centred around Pythagoras' theory. One is a 'fill in the blanks', the other is a ordering of processes.

Kept the diagram the same but varied the different type of knowledge needed alongside knowledge of angles in parallel lines. Some equations, some ratio.
