Henri Matisse - Colours, shapes and opinions

(20)
PPoint to introduce Matisse's work to Year 7 whilst learning colours, shapes and opinions. Edited January 2014 - I have added a simple worksheet to use with the PowerPoint (I suggest handing it out after Slide 5 or 6, otherwise the &'Try to guess who this is&'; slide at the start will be a bit pointless!)

A powerpoint to introduce 'avoir&' (full verb) to Year 7. I have included a Welsh version for those that teach in Welsh-medium schools, and an English one for everyone else :) (The &';Contre la Souris' activity is taken from Neil Jones&'s &';Contra el raton' powerpoint found here http://neiljones.org/2010/01/20/contra-el-raton/ - merci Neil!).

This lesson was inspired by this blogpost: http://creativelanguageclass.com/2012/09/25/passport-needed/ It was designed to revise numbers, alphabet (they can practice giving each other their details, spelling their names etc), birthdays etc as well as to provide a bit of cultural information and encouraging some research into francophone countries. PS - Do check the video as there are a few seconds of dancing carnival girls in Trinidad that may not suit everyone!

Exercises based on the free Mary Glasgow resource found here: http://fr.maryglasgowplus.com/students/features/23918?level=chez+nous (the recording for the listening can be downloaded from this link). This was designed for tutoring with individuals so there are many different exercises based around the same resource, in order to be able to choose specific exercises according to an individual's particular needs - this does not mean that they can't be used in a class setting, but just that the exercises are not designed to be completed in their entirety by any pupil! The exercises were also designed with the new (Wales) WJEC specification/sample assessment materials for 2016 in mind.

Simple powerpoint revising countries, numbers and time, giving a little cultural information, watching some video clips (the Stromae one gets a little bit random in the middle, edit as you see fit...!) and a simple game of Guess Who at the end. Edited 16th June - Tweaks to the PowerPoint and I have uploaded the numeracy resource in Welsh and in English. Apologies for the delay, needed to request permission from our trainee teacher, as the designer of the original worksheet :)

(Scroll down for English) Adnodd yn seiliedig ar syniad gwreiddiol gan Lightbulb Languages, sy’n cysylltu geiriau ar draws gwahanol ieithoedd (https://www.lightbulblanguages.co.uk/resources-language-links.htm). Mae’r adnodd yma yn cyfannu’r adnodd gwreiddiol ar gyfer ysgolion Cymreig. Mae fersiwn ddwyieithog (Cymraeg/Saesneg) a fersiwn uniaith Gymraeg i’w cael yma. This is a resource based on an original idea by Lightbulb Languages which connects words across different languages (https://www.lightbulblanguages.co.uk/resources-language-links.htm). This resource aims to work as a complement to the originals for Welsh/Welsh-medium schools. They demonstrate links between Welsh and French words due to Latin influence. There is a bilingual (Welsh/English) version and a Welsh-only version.

Exercises based on the free Mary Glasgow resource found here: http://fr.maryglasgowplus.com/students/features/33708 (the text and recording for the listening can be downloaded from this link). This worksheet was designed with the new (Wales) WJEC specification/sample assessment materials for 2016 in mind: it fits in with Theme 2 (Literature, art, film and music in the French-speaking world), and the exercises are similar to questions found in the Sample Assessment Materials. In the warm-up page, the tick boxes can be used by pupils on their very first listen (if wanted) - can they tick off the new vocab as they hear it?
