This lesson and resources were used for an interview lesson (I did get the job). Used on a year 8 class - but I have used with year 7 and low ability year 9. I found the idea from TES originally and have adapted and added tasks to look at graph skills.

Main resources - magnification calculation help sheet. My middle ability class were struggling with the new GCSE magnification calculations. I found the working out the size of cells activity on TES and created the help sheet for my middle / lower ability pupils. Example calculation included, structured steps to work out and a framework for pupils to complete the calculations. Including converting mm to micrometers. Had much more success in the lesson with the help sheet.

Produced this lesson to use with my year 11's in preparation for their exams. Looks at different memory games to get them thinking about how their memory works - then explains how short term memory and long term memory work and how things can interfere with their memory. My class really enjoyed this - both the memory games and how it applies to revision. They came away with a better understanding of strategies to use for revision.

I produced this booklet to help year 11's prepare for the exam - there was always plenty of material on how to revise, but never on techniques to use in the exam to help them. This breaks down different techniques such as using the marks, reading the question, structuring answers, etc. Examples are from GCSE Science papers - but could easily be adapted. This can be used as a presentation or printed as a booklet.

Lesson used on drug testing for AQA GSCE Core Spec. Used with both high and low ability groups, just adapted for their needs. All resources included. Students start by reading a recent news article about drug testing and answering some comprehension questions. Card sort on the process of testing drugs - use of revision guide to help complete. Animal testing - is it right or wrong - discussion based worksheets. Thalidomide - information hunt - stick the posters around the room and pupils collect the key information need.
