Roman Mosaics lesson and art activity

(5)
This lesson takes a brief look at some examples of Roman mosaics and discusses some of their features. This then leads into a lovely art lesson that we used for our Roman Day in year 4. The activity requires a blank CD case and different types of beans. The notebook has step-by-step instructions with many pictures for the pupils to create their own beautiful mosaic.

Roman Gladiators- Who were they? + Top Trump Activity

(2)
This lesson was used for a Y4 class in their Cornerstone's Curriculum topic 'I Am Warrior.' We start out by discussing what we think we know about the gladiators. Tables then work on ipads/laptops to research a specific gladiator (each with a very interesting story). The class then comes back together and groups feedback their findings. This then leads into a Top Trumps activity after talking about what we believe the key attributes would've been for a gladiator. Children are set the task of creating their own gladiator top trump card with a maximum number of attribute points, an illustration and a short back-story. I've attached the blank top trump sheet in word/publisher as well as the notebook presentation that was used.
