This booklet was made to be used in line with the Active Literacy reading pack/strategies. I have covered most of the strategies within this booklet, but every page can be edited/added to depending on your current reading focus. I have made this booklet with WW2 books in mind, and so have referred to that in two places- this will obviously need to be edited if your topics or novels are based on something else. It can be used on non-fiction texts, but was made with narrative texts in mind so check through each activity to make sure it is suitable. Thanks!

Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman reading comprehension. Five weeks worth of worksheet activities, including a before reading activity. The worksheets are all labelled with what chapters they cover, and the whole resource covers the prologue to chapter 31 (first half of book). All pages are easily edited, and include a variety of different tasks to help generate discussions around the pages. Can be used as homework, one off lessons or as a whole block of teaching.

Fantastic Mr Fox worksheets based on the first 5 chapters of the book. Actvities and questions included in the worksheets are based on Bloom's taxonomy questions, as well as the reading strategies outlined in Active Literacy approaches.

Using a "code" (the alphabet) the children complete numeracy problems to work out where on the map certain places are located. Each numerical answer corresponds to a location on the map, and children will be able to fill out the map once they have completed all of the problems. This particular map is aimed at Primary 5 (KS2) but can easily be modified to suit more able pupils. This activity took 30/45mins to complete, and children worked as mixed pairs. Children should understand basic operations, and will be introduced to square and prime numbers during this activity. Reading Comprehension for the book The Wreck of the Zanzibar by Michael Morpurgo. 7 weeks of worksheets, each with the pages that they cover (set as homework for the previous week). Can be used as one off lessons, homework or as whole block of teaching. Easily edited and changed. Aimed at Primary 4-7.

Two brilliant workbooklets for Primary 5/6/7 when working in literacy circles. Using Bloom's Taxonomy question stems, these activities challenge and motivate reading and discussion in your classroom. Each booklet has lots of ideas and different activities for literacy circles or general reading activities.

I made these worksheets/discussion questions for Primary 7 pupils who were reading Wonder by R J Palacio. A lot of the activities detailed are more discussion questions, but I've also included ideas for homework tasks for the following week. A sorting/matching activity based on how the telephone has changed and developed over the years. Could be developed into a reading/quiz activity or to test knowledge and understanding of product development. Used in Primary 7 class after studying Alexander Graham Bell as part of Scottish Week. Included in this resource are the answers, the text part and the image part. All resources can be used independently of each other depending on activity and teaching/learning styles. Two differentiated tasks for a topic based around the Amazon Rainforest. This lesson looks at the layers of the rainforest, and begins to research different planst that may live within each layer. Pupils will also look at true/false cards about the rainforest, and will have to sort these accroding to their research. There is also a cloze procedure for all pupils.

Some easy flashcards which can be laminated and used indoors or outside. Can be used for most ages and stages.

A PowerPoint aimed at ages 10+ to demonstrate the dangers of vaping or e-cigarettes. Contains information about how they work, health effects and other dangerous side effects.

This lesson is planned to be teacher led, with a teacher guide to read with the class. Can be used as a comprehension lesson within a war topic. Two differentiated worksheets aimed at Primary 7. One worksheet is for able pupils, and includes questions and a cloze procedure with word bank. The worksheet for less able pupils includes a second word bank and the vocabulary has been simplified.

A brief lesson looking into what air is made up of (gases) and what happens when pollution becomes involved. Active resource with worksheet follow up. Work as a whole class actively, as well as co-operative groups for discussion.

Two different posters or activities that can be used to help with the teaching of prime numbers and factors. I have used Optimus Prime to help teach prime numbers, and the x factor judges to help with factors. can be laminated and used with whiteboard pens to record answers, or as a way of displaying a daily challenge.

A simple worksheet intended to help introduce coin cards. Easy to edit. children can choose their own number to complete the coin card for, or teacher can make changes to worksheet before printing.

This resource can be used at the start of a whole class lesson on subtraction, or as a revision tool for individual groups or children. The activity allows the children to try out and discuss subtraction sums with each other, before progressing on to harder examples. It can be edited to allo for more explanation to be entered.

Addition and subtraction word problems with a health week theme. 3 differentiated worksheets with a variety of addition and subtraction problems. Easy to edit and change.

Eight labels for use around the classroom: plain paper, card, lined paper, squared paper, literacy, numeracy and art resources. Also a VCOP label for display purposes.

A short maths lesson based on the BFG. Change the heights of the characters from feet to metres. Children can then use their charts to measure with trundle wheels or metre sticks the height of each character. Each worksheet is easy to edit and change. Slightly differentiated, and aimed at P7 age but could easily be done with younger children.
