Do you have the ' Perfect Face'?

(15)
Worksheet is based on using ratio and proportion to determine what parts of the face are in proportion, and how close to ‘perfection’ each face is. Combines the use of accurate measurements, finding ratios, and comparing proportion, and basic skils of using a calculator.

Speed Distance Time Investigation

(3)
On a Road Trip to Bristol, the distance travelled was recorded every 15 minutes, allowing speed to be calculated. The notebook introduces the concept of calculating speed, and then moves on to working out the answers for the excel worksheet. The excel worksheet has a blank grid to be filled in, the answers, the blank graphs which can be plotted, and the graphs drawn for comparison. The crib sheet provides a more in depth discussion of the topic.

Mean Median Mode Range Cumulative Frequency data

(1)
Collect, represent and interpret data collected from the class, on discrete and continuous data. The word.doc is handed to members of the class, with the excel.doc displayed on the screen after the ppt.doc has been discussed. The aim is for the class to interpret the 4 averages from the tables, along with plotting and interpreting Cumulative Frequency curves and box plots. I have attached a copy of the data collected from my class to show how the excel.doc works.

Maths KS3 2009 SAT papers

(1)
In the flipchart are ALL the questions from Paper 1 of the 2009 KS3 SAT paper. I have cut them to allow for annotation and explanation. I have used the 3-5 and 6-8 to cut the questions from, so if you are using the 4-6 or 5-7 the question numbers on the slides will not correlate, and you will need to start. I have also included copies of the papers so all is in one place. I have linked to the website where further copies of past papers are included, as well as mark schemes etc.

Transformation of Graphs

(2)
Two lessons on the transformation of graphs. The first looks at the Trig functions, and introduces common notation. The second involves the equation of a circle, how it can be plotted, and what to spot. There is a follow up lesson on using these skills in ICT in my resources.

Traversability and Minimum Spanning Tree

Created from looking at the Islands around Auckland, for the pupils to see where they can sail between, and if it is a Eulerian circuit or path, or neither. Focus given to the context of the question to draw the use of the topic.

Reaction Ruler

Make your own reaction ruler, then collect the results in the table, and represent these results in a line graph. The comments for the speeds you may want to alter depending on the class, the ones on the document at the moment relate to the class I worked with last. I would recommend bringing enough cardboard, cereal boxes is good enough!

A flipchart covering the majority of topics on the Unit 2 scheme. Split into three lessons, but could be delivered over 3-6 if time allows. Resources are embedded in the file. Each has a breakdown of what is needed, with grades. Most topics cover all from D up to B, with some A covered too. Some are for mini whiteboards, other I would suggest printing the worksheets I've created.

The excel spreadsheet i have made is set up to print straight out, either for plotting the co-ordinates of a Union Jack in the first quadrant, or all 4. The first quadrant is plotted from 0<x<30, 0<y<15, or in all four its -15<x<15, -7.5<y<7.5 The colours are easy too, traingles are BLUE quadrilaterals are RED, the rest is WHITE. Each row is a separate shape. UPDATED, after spotting a typo, sorry! Further UPDATE to include axes on separate tabs to help draw accurately.

It is good for visually representing movements. I worked with my class for two lessons in order to get to the challenges.
