Studenst have to place 20 words / expressions into spaces on a diagrammatic flowchart of how electricity is produced. The diagram has all the sources on the left linking into solar cells / turbines / generators via National Grid to homes. Some of the illustrations do not copy that well, but were the best I could find.

This crossword covers every section of the AQA P1a Core Science Unit - heat transfer, energy types, energy transfers, electrical appliances and power / energy costs, and finally electrical energy sources. It was prepared in Puzzlemaker but tidied up in Powerpoint. I did not save the solution but have included a spreadsheet with all the clues and answers listed alphabetically. Printed A4, the squares are just about large enough to enter answers. I printed to A3 and had students working in groups.

A large crossword covering most of the key definitions of AQA Core Science P1b, Radiation and The Universe. For teachers of other specifications the topics covered are electromagnetic waves, nature and uses of nuclear radiation and origin / future of The Universe. The Powerpoint file has 4 pages ; 1. Clues 2. Answer sheet with no help 3. Answer sheet with help ( some letters entered ) 4. Solution

There are two documents - a) cards to be printed out so that each student has an alpha, a beta and a gamma card and b - a quiz where every answer is alpha, beta or gamma ( or a combination). The quiz can be played either by all students holding up the cards they think are correct or in groups as a game, when they record how many answers each member of the group has got correct. I couldn't think of any more than 20 questions !
