A PowerPoint of questions designed to make pupils think, based on Ian Gilbert's Little Book of Thunks. Have created this with background & graphics to specifically appeal to Upper Primary children - used successfully with P5-P7.

This resource contains presentations to run two language games that involve function skills in speaking and listening and writing. Taboo 2 is my version of a language game already available here - simply gives more alternatives. Have used this successfully with P7’s - and a few brighter P6’s. Say that again was inspired by the many and varied spelling howlers I’ve come across when marking dictation. May also be useful for S1. Enjoy!!

Have been using these in paper format for a few years & decided to upgrade to PowerPoint é start using them on a Smartboard. All the questions are ‘tried é tested’, so nothing new. I have used them with P6/P7, but they could be appropriate, if challenging, for P5 - especially the lower rated questions.

A PowerPoint that gives pupils thinking challenges. Based on Tony Ryan's '20 Thinker's Keys'. Untried woth P4, so possibly a bit hopeful there, but quite successful with P5 and above. May come in handy as an end of term activity.

A workbook I created a few years ago to complement the story being read as part of the Highland Clearances topic. Although it could be improved upon, I found that it really helped fix the story in the minds of the class (a P5/6 composite), and really increased their understanding of the topic.

Similar to BBC4's Only Connect - challenges pupils to group 16 words into 4 categories within a 5 minute time limit, with a few red herrings thrown in to confuse things. My P7s find it extremely challenging because it requires a bit of thought on their part. But then, anything that makes them think...............
