I made this to teach KS1 children about shadows. The Peter Pan picture is a good discussion point (can your shadow move on its own? Can you touch your shadow etc.). The shared read also explores these ideas of a shadow, helping to draw out and challenge misconceptions. There is then a hyperlink to a fantastic Interactive resource which the children can use to explore shadows in terms of length and direction in the day and night, indoors and outdoors. The end of the PowerPoint features a Weakest Link style quiz which I usually use as a plenary.
This is a well known thinking activity which I use as a starter. The PowerPoint features the problem and the solution. The resources can be printed and laminated then the children can work out the solution by moving the pieces across the river and discussing it in groups.
This is a resource I developed for my Guides Unit but I have also used it when teaching in KS2. It contains some ideas and resources for an Italy theme day. Hope it's useful!
