Learning to learn for Controlled Assessments

We regularly tell students to revise or learn for homework, but in my experience they do not always know how. In particular, preparation for controlled assessments is very specific. Here I have put together some of the strategies I find work best for both speaking and writing. Should be delivered in one fast-paced lesson. I really hope it is helpful.

Over the years I have found that the same tricky vocab comes up time and again. This odd-one-out activity is designed to get students thinking about the association between questions and answers. The first page is the most important (foundation) and the second page is more challenging. I believe this resource is invaluable!

Lesson introducing Le Futur Simple to Year 9 or Year 10 students for interactive whiteboard, using SmartNotebook software. Resource I am proud of. Don't think I've classified this correctly as it seems strange not to have a 'for teachers' tag?! However, I would really appreciate feedback if anyone does find or use this. Ooodles more to upload if it's of interest. Have included lesson plan.

Students really enjoyed this. Finished with presentation to class. So far only attempted with highly motivated class - probably need tweaking for less able or ambitious.

Really proud of this one! Brilliant homework when introducing the conditional. Double-sided worksheet. Students have to watch a 6-minute video on Youtube.com, which is itself really helpful, and answer questions. They then build on this to manipulate the verbs independently. Students, in my experience, really enjoyed this homework and experienced great success. Please give me feedback on whether you agree or if I am completely misguided. Thanks.
