Two engaging activities to demonstrate and investigate inverse proportion in real life situations. Includes starters etc. There is a lesson plan, a PowerPoint and handout. There is plenty of differentiation included but it is mostly for middle / top sets (Yr9 / 10)

Hi, I loved this lesson idea, thanks for sharing..... I started with the iblob cube challenge and then moved onto the breakfast shift. Students were very engaged, many got caught out by assuming direct proportion for the iblob situation as indirect was counter-intuitive, but as soon as they started timing for real they all saw what should be going on. Results worked best when they had several goes at each team size and took the average time. Breakfast shift situation was then easier for them to visualize with the nice extension of the cost problem to take into account. All in all very good inquiry based learning!
