Thankyou for this resource: I agree with katey 1305.With my sixteen to eighteen year old students i will change the perspective and ask them to write about what they see from their window:Perhaps they will see the problems of their hometown and this will lead to an open-discussion lesson, another idea may be that of changing the season and leaving the cat, or changing both season and animal(the figures of speech would be different as well as the choice of the adjectives or verbs).a geography lesson might be introduced with clues in the poem and the students would have to guess what city or country they are going to study,an art lesson could start by asking the students to write in a poem what the cat or a person sees(teacher chooses a landscape or an urban setting by a famous painter).there are many ways in which I would use this resource. This looks a great resource which I can use from the point of view of a woodland animal in our "woods" topic this term, and then again with my new Yr2 class for our "Stop, Look and Listen" topic next term- perfect. It's great to have the poem, an adaptation of that poem by children and lots of little tips of how to get the best from the children in their writing. Thank you.

Used parts of this for my year 3 class. They loved it! We changed if to Cat in the window what can you see/hear/smell. This worked really well especially with the lower groups to keep them focused.
