Cecily's Fund, a charity which works to educate Zambian children orphaned by HIV/ AIDS, has developed a Schools' Pack. The pack is made up of two resources: The Teachers' Pack and The Fundraising Guide for pupils. Through them, young people are given the opportunity to learn about Zambia, poverty, A More…IDS and human rights, and to consider their own values and decide whether they want to actively counter ignorance, injustice and intolerance in the world. The pack comprises:
- a compelling 9-minute documentary on the orphans of Zambia
- a Teachers’ Pack designed to fit in with the government’s programme of Active Citizenship in Schools, about human rights, HIV AIDS, religion, education and poverty, and Zambia
- a Pupils’ Fundraising Pack, which teaches pupils the skills needed to work as a team and organise their own charity event.
Although intended for 11 to 18 year olds, the pack can be easily adapted for younger children.
