The Government’s expert adviser on behaviour, Charlie Taylor, has produced a checklist on the basics of classroom management. Teachers can use it to develop between five and ten essential actions to promote good behaviour in students. The checklist follows Charlie's recent summit, where outst More…anding headteachers discussed their views on the key principles for improving behaviour. You can download Charlie’s checklist and examples of how schools have adapted it for their own practice here.

A helpful checklist. It's always good to be reminded of the simple but very important things. Consistency is of course most important. Very central to great behaviour management for me are great relationships. When pupils have great realtionships with each other and teachers have great relationships with pupils behaviour takes care of itself. Low level disruption often arises out of boredom. When we offer learning opportunities which stimulate, and enthuse - exite the imagination and have real relevant - bad behaviour ?? - no chance!
