The video of the Olympic Torch shows children how to make a simple but effective piece of music..There is also a worksheet . Children love to watch the video as their class mates play the music. There is a video with no sound on for this purpose. After the lesson there are teachers notes and an example of a basic soundtrack added to the video and the children's scribed music.

I found this so useful. I was able to extend it from children working in groups of 3 and using their own notation, to combining groups and evaluating the combinations of instruments and finally playing as a whole class orchestra. It was brilliant. It really gave me confidence. Thanks
