There is a small error on slide 5 - was unable to edit it...should read Where were you instead of Were where you -- can the author fix it as I really love this ppt and would love to use the ideas with my classes?

(report comment) 5 out of 5

Useful stimulus - thanks. Littered with spelling & punctuation errors unfortunately, but easily changed, so thanks. Though it might seem pedantic, if it's a resource aiming to improve English skills, the following ought to be addressed I feel: There should be a colon after 'following' Slide 1 - should be 'then', not 'the' Slide 3 - should be 'Where were' not 'Were where' Slide 10 - shouldn't be a question mark - it's a command Slide 20 - needs a full stop Slide 24 - should be 'drawers', not 'draws' Slide 40 - should be 'who', not 'that' Slide 42 - should have a question mark

A good collection of resources but I agree with some of the other comments, the grammatical errors are a little frustrating and I'm sure the kids I teach would have a field day spotting these mistakes. It doesn't set an amazing example! Thank you for sharing though.

from btw, 27 July 2011
(report comment) 5 out of 5

Love the ideas and it would certainly get kids engaged. But I'm a bit concerned that the number of typos/spelling errors would make it a problem to use in an English lesson when you are trying to encourage kids to check these things carefully! Great ideas but would need to be altered/edited before use.

This chimes with a move towards acknowledging process approaches to generating creative writing. With adaptation to suit the context of particular classes, it could be very useful in creating a writing habit in your classroom. And yes there are some spelling errors - but how often do we blindly put something up without checking it first?!

from RaymondSoltysek, 27 January 2011

Right click to spell check.. Just a few of the errors in these comments: "fabulouos". "using...slide". Missing capital letters. "Gret ideas". Missing fullstops. Putting spaces before commas. "AS I COULD NOT VIE ANYTHING". "These wonderful". "originial". We are responsible for teaching literacy. The very least we can do is set a good example ourselves.

Great guided writing idea. Love this resources. The children can do this in groups , share , evaluate against VCOP and choose their favourite.

Homonym alert. Brilliant apart from the spelling mistake on slide 24. 'drawers' not 'draws'. Whoops!

Great!! Just what I was looking for!!. I'm using this with my adult learners who are mostly pre-GCSE standard. I am a firm believer in top down approaches and like to get them writing as much as possible.

What an original idea!. As a drama teacher asked to teach 3 KS3 English Classes with very little guidance and no real SOW to work with. These short exercises have got me sorted for starters for the next million years. What an originial idea! It will really get the kids thinking well and truly outside the box!! Cheers!
