Decorating and Furnishing a Room

Overall rating 4 out of 54 (2 ratings)

In this activity students have to calculate wall and floor areas, calculate how much paint and flooring they will need and calculate a cost. They then have to furnish the room on a budget - I have been quite generous with the budget- you may want to be more restrictive.

I found this activity really easy to use with a straight forward scale for a limited ability year 9 class. Simple scale and a problem they could relate to. Easy to extend for the purposes of differentiation. Thanks

A very nice and functional way of teaching area and perimeter. I like this because pupils could be put in groups and they have to problem solve and calculate within restrictions. I really like this lesson idea, and it can easily be differentiated for different groups.
