Game like Hap Fams (Am. – Go Fish). Families of 4 depict words that use common spellings to produce diff sounds. Player asks another p'r for a partic 'fam mem' (every card bears the IPA transcr. of all mmbrs).– etc. The ‘families’ are words that share a vowel sound, so that there are two ‘bow’ car More…ds (one in the /aʊ/ family and one in the /əʊ/ family. . Class size is a problem. But in classes where the sets of cards are too small, two or more can be combined – leading to productive ‘clashes’ between, for example, ‘treasure’ in the EA pack and ‘leisure’ in the EI pack.

The flash cards look fantastic. Could be useful in an EAL class or to support spelling strategies for certain sounds. I'm not sure i understand the game but like how they look. Thank you for sharing this resource.
