Bullying affects almost every school. Homophobic language is commonplace in schools across Britain. Bullied is a series of assembly starters for secondary and primary students that features interviews with young people who have been bullied.

In Bullied: Homophobia, a 17-year-old boy tells how upsetting homophobic bullying can be. Called names, stigmatised and isolated, he describes the effects that bullying has had on him. Now a member of the Essex Youth Scrutiny Committee, he reveals the results of a survey about the issue that most affects young people in South Essex. For teachers, this short film could prompt questions including: Have you heard homophobic language in school? Do you think it is hurtful to call someone gay? Do you think that homophobic bullying is different from other sorts of bullying?
