Investigating Adding Fractions with Geogebra

KS3 Maths Activity using ICT. A dynamic webpage and accompanying worksheet to guide pupils through the process of how to add fractions. They can see the visualisation and use it to answer the questions, then allowing them the chance to devise their own method for adding fractions. I have found this More…really successful in teaching for understanding and getting pupils to see that they need to make the denominators equal first. Outstanding computer lesson! Download the webpage and save it to your shared drive where the pupils can access it.

A nice way of looking at fractions in a visual way to work out adding fractions with different denominators. Geogebra is a great software package and I would recommend all maths teachers to use it, but I have never thought about using it for fractions. Great idea!
