Kung Fu Punctuation

Overall rating 4 out of 54.6 (47 ratings)

Last updated 27 June 2014, created 28 October 2010, viewed 65,320

I have created '3 levels' of Kung Fu Punctuation based on Ros Wilson's model. Each new level re-caps what was done previously. Pupils practice the moves, do the correct move to match the sentence displayed, and then finish the session with a tournament.

My kids just loved this. KRM12, it's useful if they do it WHILE you have sentences that they have to see or listen to. It helps them understand the rhythm of language and what we might achieve by putting them in. At eh very least, it increases awareness of punctuation marks. Thanks, I owe you one!

A useful resource to add fun to what can be a dry topic :)

Yes but how does this teach them the concept behind the reason why the punctuation mark is used? The end task is fun but it doesn't test their understanding of punctuation. This is not meant to be confrontational or negative, I simply need a way to teach punctuation that really helps them to understand why a certain mark is used. Any help?
