Making sense of the Jabberwocky

I saw a unit of work about the Jabberwocky taught to a Y5 class whilst I was on placement during my Uni course - it was truly inspiring teaching with the children being engaged by the teacher's drama and sense of fun and then having the opportunity to create their own drama based on the poem. More… The poem provides great opportunities for examining different types of words, e.g. nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs and the 'jobs' they do within sentences. Work with children to identify the class of the nonsense words and choose appropriate 'non-nonsense' words to create adapted poems.
