Position, direction and 2D shape (four days).

Children follow instructions involving position and direction. They listen to and describe to others the properties of seen and unseen 2D shapes, discussing whether the sides are curved or straight and the number of sides and corners. They also use colloquial vocabulary such as ‘pointy’, ‘round’, ‘skinny’ and ‘fat’. 2D shapes are used to make pictures and patterns and children describe them to others. They name squares, circles, rectangles and triangles and match shapes to the correct sets.

A lot of opportunity for the children to become active learners and learn about postition.
