Ordering and finding fractions of numbers (three days).
Children find several eighths of numbers, by halving three times to find one eighth first. They order halves, quarters and eighths on a number line and see the equivalence between them. They order ¼, ½, and ¾ on a fraction number line, and then extend this with the support of visual images to a 0-2 number line, labelling each quarter, and matching each fraction/mixed number (e.g. 1½) to a quantity.
