Doubles and multiplying and dividing two-digit numbers by single-digit numbers (five days).

Children revise using the grid method to multiply two-digit and single-digit numbers together, and then use this to multiply any two-digit numbers by single-digit numbers. Further practice is given, and they are asked to use their experience to approximate first. They are also asked to spot calculations that are easy to do mentally and where the grid method would be less efficient. Children revise using chunking on the empty number line (ENL) to divide two- and three-digit numbers by single-digit numbers including those leaving a remainder, approximating first, including those where the answer is more than 20 but less than 30.
