Use this PowerPoint to introduce the idea of meltiong and boiling points at KS3. It goes on to deal with how to predict the physical state of water at different temperatures. Finally, the physical state of the halogens is examined at two different temperatures.

Very good for an introduction to the topic. Note, however, there is an error in the table on the final slide; it shows the temperature as 25C, when it should read -50!
