Overall rating 4 out of 54.6 (11 ratings)

Last updated 01 May 2012, created 22 September 2011, viewed 4,785

An introduction to Mendelian genetics using Simpsons examples.
UPDATE: Complete ppt (with F2 generation) now uploaded.
Our SoW uses punnet 'diamonds' so you may need to adjust this.
Known issue is that some examples use similar letter forms (i.e. Ss not Ee). More…Comments on relevant characteristics with diverse letter forms very welcome.

there are a couple of mistakes on the ppt. the slide with marge's hair should say 'curly' hair instead of straight. the F2 gen slide with milhouse and lisa has a major mistake in the top box of the diamond. it should be SS, not Ss. hopefully folks edited this before showing it to their students. i'm sure it's engaging for the kids, but let's make sure to give out correct info.

Congratulations on developing an entertaining and highly relevant resource. My year 10 class found it lots of fun and were totally engaged in learning.

A great resource for my lower ability students. It captures the imagination without being overly content heavy.
