Mental and oral starters for Year 5 Autumn Teaching Sequence 4.

Know by heart multiplication facts for the 6 times table. Know by heart multiplication facts for the 3, 4, 6 and 9 times tables. Recognise multiples of six and nine. To know by heart multiplication and division facts for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10 times tables and learn division facts. To understand that multiplication is commutative. To use knowledge of multiplication facts and place value to multiply by multiples of 10. To use knowledge of multiplication facts for 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 tables to derive multiplication facts for 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60. Divide two-digit numbers by single digits including those, which leave a remainder. To practise deriving quickly and recall of number facts using all four operations. To reason about numbers and operations.
