Mental and oral starters for Year 5 Spring Teaching Sequence 2.

Understand decimal notation for tenths and hundredths in context e.g. length, converting 125cm to metres. Recognise the equivalence between tenths written as vulgar fractions (1/10) and decimal fractions (0.1), and between hundredths written as vulgar and decimal fractions. Round three-digit numbers to the nearest 100. Locate numbers with one or two decimal places. Understand the relationship between fractions and decimal fractions (tenths and hundredths).

A useful resource from the Hamilton Trust. The old numeracy strategy website is used as a link on here which is no longer active for one of the resources. Lots of teachers have these installed on their school computers anyways.
