Here is my SOW for narrative that you could use either to prepare KS4 for narrative writing in exams or for Controlled Assessment. It covers about 10 lessons and includes:
Romance – use of language
Horror – setting
Fantasy- similes, metaphors, personification
Action – the five senses
Creating character
Convincing dialogue
Show not tell

I've never enjoyed teaching narrative writing, I get bored with 'and then I woke up and it was all a dream' endings. But, having avoided teaching narrative writing for years, I'm now having to.
