Parlez-vous francais ?

Overall rating 4 out of 54.6 (16 ratings)

A short movie showing French words that we use in English. Show your pupils that they speak more French than they think ! A way of starting the first lesson with Y7, to put the language into a context. It could also start an interesting discussion or fact-finding mission about why these words exist in English.

A good resource. A bit of a shame about the inclusion of "blancmange" (blanc-manger) and "double entendre" (sous-entendu / double sens). Otherwise a good way to talk about similarities in languages. Thank you.

Great! Many thanks. Beginning some much dreaded planning for next week and will use this with my new year 7s!

Fab, fab, fab! We are changing our S1 course, again, thanks to CfE in Scotland and all the changes that National 4/5/ are bringing. Our first topic is to be 'Why Learn a Language?', and this is just excellent as an introduction. Thank you so much. Jill, Arbroath

Very interesting, and not just for year 7... I think students need reminding that they already know/use some French words.... Thank you for sharing...
