Perimeter and Area investigation in real life context. End of unit D1 Year 6

I have tried to link perimeter and area to real life contexts. I used images from Goggle earth and the measurement tool - all the building measurements are accurate (they have been rounded). The investigation involves the children calculating using real measurements and real prices the costs of re turfing the Arsenal stadium , decking the court yard at Buckingham Palace and knocking down the Houses of Parliament to make a car park to solve the congestion probs in London. I showed the the images on Google Earth and they loved flying from one place to the other. I hope this is useful to someone
