'Phone Calls' Poisson Distribution

Overall rating 4 out of 54 (1 rating)

Whole class probability distribution task, suitable for KS5. The idea here is to explore what happens if you add two independent Poisson distributions. Autograph's statistics abilities will be a big help here. Great opportunity to use ICT in the maths classroom. This could be explored by the whole class together on the big screen.

This is a nice rich text on the topic of the poisson distribution. Based on the idea of the number of phone calls made to an office, the excel document allows you to change the data to show how it affects the distribution graphs on the next sheet. A very useful functional task for a post 16 class learning poisson.
