Porcupine pie charts

Overall rating 4 out of 54.7 (3 ratings)

Last updated 15 April 2013, created 19 March 2012, viewed 2,277

This activity develops recognising, understanding, and drawing of pie charts (level 6/7). In this activity, students are challenged to match pie charts to tables of ingredients for porcupine feeds. This should prompt discussions of the proportions involved. This activity should allow students More…to see that pie charts represent proportions only and do not represent fixed amounts – hence there being more than one table to a pie chart. The activity can also act as a prompt to revise how to draw pie charts from given values.

A nice reminder for pie charts with a matching activity for something other than crisps(!). I like the fact that 2 tables link to 1 pie chart and that they have to draw their own as well. Thank you.
