A lesson delivered to encourage rainforest poetry from the children. Began by using the clips from the website and invited the children to make notes about any words that came to mind. Introduced the DART poem (poem found on the internet) and children to fill in the word blanks. The word bank is fo More…r the shortened poem activity, which is plenty for the children I would say. Lesson proceeded with discussion about word choices and if any similarities between own words and the poet's words, then encouraged children to write their own poem using words from the sound clips.

We used the poem as an intro, then the children had a basic bank of sound words that they added to as we listened to various clips (not all, as only Year 3) then they wrote about the cacophonous rainforest.... Worked very well. Thank you - saved me an awful lot of time in starting the activity planning from scratch.
