Reading Strategy cue cards

Pupils identify the strategy they can use to read a challenging word. Sound it out - use phonics/letter sound knowledge Slide - reread the word quickly after sounding it out I Spy - use picture cues Stop and Think - what would make sense? Front/Back attack - read first/last letter sound Jigsa More…w - break a word into compound parts Leapfrog - jump over the challenging word, finish the sentence then come back to imagine what might make sense.
