Designed for a 50 minute lesson for top set year nine but the pace is quick so would certainly suit a 60 as well with more time for lower sets. Used Religion and Life's Christianity and the roles of men and women but only the traditional and modern protestant attitudes as it was an introductory less More…on to a new topic on religion and equality and year 9. If you have more time - the picture of Dawn french has a hyperlink attached to when she first arrives in the vicar of dibley - could be used to create discussion. I decided not to use it but left the hyperlink there. Was for an interview - got the job! Notes are added for guidance xx

I like the way that the resource engages the kids right from the start - by applying 'sexist stereotypes' to their own situation at school. It's a great way to start them thinking about this topic. When reflecting on the story of Adam and Eve, it's useful to make it clear that many Christians recognise that stories like this one are Oral Tradition - from an age before science - and can be interpreted metaphorically. Most Christians do not take them as 'literal truth.' One of the truths which can be found in this story is that men and women are equal - because in the story God creates Eve from a rib - meaning men and women stand side by side - not from his head or his feet - which could symbolise her being on top or underneath the man.

Excellent Resource for a Good Lesson. I taught the class with this resource - what a brilliant metthod of using several plenaries while teaching and learning take place - amazing stuff for good learning.
