I used this during a light and dark topic with my year one class. The learning objective was to know that a shadow is made when a light source is blocked. The children went on to investigate their own shadows in the playground taking pictures and also experimented in the classroom using paper and to More…rches to make hand shadows investigating how to make shadows bigger or smaller ( by moving them closer/ further away from the light source). At the end we discussed what we had found out and I showed them a video which can be found on you tube called 'wonderful shadows' which the children loved.

Just what I need to kick start the lesson. It's great you've been able to get some pictures of shadows that the children just would never be able to see in their day to day lives with a mix of the familiar. Thanks.

A great introduction for kids. Will add some of my own photos of the kids (with their shadows) in the slide too to personalise their learning.
