This activity uses a spreadsheet which allows groups of pupils or a whole class to refine their estimate of a square or a cube root. The spreadsheet records their attempts and will indicate whether the estimate is too high or low. The discussion between groups of pupils is important, and there would More… be less value in the activity if it were a solitary one. Pupils might also like to investigate how to write similar spreadsheets.
