Private Peaceful is not for KS2. Private Peaceful is not an appropriate text for ks3. It is a shocking, horrific and detailed account, beautifully written,of life in the trenches. This is clearly a KS3 novel, indeed the DCSF website and many many others put it as a YR 8 reader. Read it yourself first before you think of giving it to any KS2 children. It also has the word 'bastard' in it 5 times. As a Secondary teacher of English I hesitate on this matter alone.
