This Lesson Starters episode features five short video clips designed for teachers to use with KS1 English pupils to stimulate imagination and support story writing.

Suitable for Years 1 and 2, each clip features five traditional stories; Red Riding Hood, The Miserly Far More…mer, The Key in the Sea, The Raja's Secret and Aladdin. Each is performed with puppets using a variety of techniques, such as shadow and table top.

The clips take the story to the point at which teachers can work with all abilities of writers to enhance characterisation, simple plot and settings.

I started using these with my ESL, English as Additional Language class. The kids range between 9yrs and 16 yrs. It certainly breaks the ice and gets everyone talking. I know these are for writing a story but used also as conversation starters is just a profitable! I'm starting my own sets of Lesson starters! Thanks for the ideas! Stepctc
