An alluring jewellery shop, a ghostly graveyard and a tunnel with a warning are just three of a series of seven exciting story starts that make up this programme, in Primary ICT.

These story starts are designed for teachers to use on their interactive whiteboards. Each s More…tory start is a short but dramatic video clip that will fire children's imaginations to continue the story into creative writing.

Advisor and Deputy Head, Simon Botten, introduces and gives some tips on how best to use these resources.

Great video, obviously a lot of care and attention gone in to it. Shame you don't have any of the new Teachers Media content. You could always check their website.

Fantastic video resources. Our year 5 and 6 students are completely engaged in writing thanks to these story starters. They have made such an impact on student writing that I have shared this strategy with staff of younger students who are now using them as well. The discussions we have as small groups and as a class help meet Talking and Listening outcomes and we use thinking strategies to build up a scaffold for writing. The opportunities from these simple 90 second video clips is amazing! Thank you Teachers TV and TES for keeping this resource alive.

Excellent resources. The children were so engaged and this was perfect for our unit on fantasy stories.

I think this is a wonderful way to get kids to have a go at writing Narrative especially great for students who face the dilemma of "what am I going to write" and also as mentioned a great way to focus in on partucular structures which you want to explicitly teach. Thanks
