The Big Lunch: Party Planning

Pupils are asked to plan a Big Lunch for a community group. In preparation they carry out taste tests & combine flavours to establish the features of a good menu. Pupils work in groups to practice planning meals for different gatherings. They draw on this learning to plan, prepare and hold a Big More… Lunch for their community group and evaluate all aspects of the event including the menu design, food quality, venue layout, entertainment & budget. These activities & resources offer a challenge-based approach to learning about food or as part of a cross-curricular extension/enrichment programme.
