Hello Norbintrobert, Thanks for your very helpful comment. I think that will inform anyone who uses this resource. The youtube clip will be especially helpful. If you would like to give me a pm I will give you my email and if you can email me a better version of the names, with the spellings corrected, I will upload that with a note to say it is a better version. The names are so inspiring. Hello Gupham. I love the ideas you suggest. It is important to remember that when written in Arabic these Beautiful Names are sacred to Muslims so you can avoid them being dropped on the floor or thrown in the bin, for example. I once set a homework exercise where I divided the Names between the pupils in several year 8 classes when we were studying Islam. The task was to write the Name out as beautifully as possible, choosing either the Arabic or English versions as the main design, but also including the translation written smaller. The completed ones were arranged on the classroom wall and I laminated the best examples. When that project ended I arranged the laminated ones as a frieze all round the classroom just below the ceiling. There were a lot of Muslim pupils in that school so standards were really high and many chose to write the Names in Arabic.

Hi I'm Muslim, and some of the names are spelt really wrong and would actually mean something different. In some instances the 'z' is actually taking the place of a 'dh' sound pronounced as in 'the'. There is also no 'v' in the Arabic language. I have included a youtube clip of these names being recited. Hope this helps. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMXGo_JuiAM&feature=related

Inspirational? This has certainly got me thinking... I think many of these (cut up as cards to be drawn daily by pupils whilst studying a module/unit of work on Islam) could be quite inspiring for pupils - almost like 'angel cards' which could be used to encourage pupils to endeavour a particular act or type of behaviour that day. Alternatively, they may simply be useful for introducing/reminding them of various 'characteristics' of Allah, or indeed other deities of the world's religions. Going to give the first idea a go (with some careful selection of cards) and see how pupils react. Surprised others have not picked on this resource, unless I'm completely missing something!
