I do this over 2 lessons starting then High Grow task first - I give them a choice of soils, cotton wool, plastic bags and where to leave the dishes. The chemistry task - I give a boiling tube of acid + UI, a boiling tube of alkali + UI and 4 test tubes. The physics/engineering task - don't allow st More…udents to screw the paper in to balls. I discuss the science involved after each task. There are a few questions related to the tasks ate the end.

Useful if you want an Olympic themed lesson but the science comes from different strands of the curriculum so needs adapting to use in 'normal' lessons.
