This song can be used as part of classwork on Victorian Britain. It provides a very useful opportunity to examine and discuss issues such as the pollution and damage to health caused by the universal burning of coal (London's famous "pea soupers"); Why Sunday was such a special day for th More…e Victorians and why everybody wore their "Sunday Best"; the public parks that the Victorians of all classes were so proud of; the workhouses and why the Victorians' had such a fear of ending up in them.
